Usually the director edits or oversees the editing. The fact Nicki didn't let Diane Martel oversee it or do it is bad.

I guess my only issue with this is, why bother even getting a director as creative as Diane if you weren't going to use her edit anyway.

I feel like that's a little disrespectful to the director's craft.

What throws me of is that she went with a director as creative as Diane and pretty much said "Ok thanks, I'll do the rest from here". She should have let Diane's vision be complete as a whole.

Diane's the director not Nicki. She has every right to dislike the video, especially since Nicki decided to not use her edit & to do something differently with the video.

At the end of the day, its Nicki's video. If she wasn't happy with Diane's edit, she has every right to go with her own. Obviously Nicki respects her. She used her RTM edit and Diane was obviously willing to work with her again. I get not liking the final product, but to openly shade on twitter is tacky. The video has had a mostly positive response, so its whatever.
