My straight friend was asking me constantly from the day the album was released if Birthday and/or Dark Horse had been released yet, as Dark Horse was a brilliant song and Birthday is amazing/'classic Katy' and bound to be a massive smash.
Birthday's not 'too' gay sounding (Whatever that means, especially in relation to a song about straight sex), it's just a normal pop song. The issue is that Katy has been pushing the same sound for 4 years now, people are getting bored of it, it's time for a change up. Legendary Lovers is probably different enough to not bore people, but I wouldn't put money on it being a big hit. Unconditionally's a completely different story - it has a terrible chorus that's impossible to sing along to and sounded awful on radio, if Dark Horse didn't exist that song still would've missed the Top 10. Katys worst single choice by a long way.
I hope the next single is This Is How We Do as I have a horrible feeling that "Future" tweet was hinting at a remix that's coming up and I don't need a rent-a-rapper ruining one of Katys best songs.
