Still buying it because I love / support Lana, but I'm underwhelmed. It all sounds the same.. I legitimately would think this is all just one long song if I had my headphones in, eyes closed..
IDK the way she hyped up the 'dark' feel of this album didn't translate in the way I wanted or expected it to. Maybe that's partially my fault because I walked into it with a preconceived perception, but it just makes me wish artists would stop talking about their albums (lyrical content, sound; anything really) prior to releasing and just release the damn thing. I think I might have been less disappointed that way.
Also: perhaps lyrically this album is more cohesive and focused, but as far as production and delivery of the material goes, BTD / Paradise are LIGHTYEARS ahead of Ultraviolence, and I can guarantee a lot of you will come to feel this way in 3-6 months time.
