Call me ignorant or whatever you want. I was raised in SE Asia, went to high school in the UK, college in the US and have been working in China for 3 years.

I'd say that Queen M and Queen E are the most famous ladies globally. Chinese villagers still play a lot of old MJ/Madonna music.

Angelina and Gaga are equally famous but a lot of old folks don't know them. Beyonce and Rihanna are still kind of local. Not that they are not famous in the eastern world but they just never had a super smash hit era over here.

I'd also argue that Hillary Clinton is more famous than Michelle Obama in the political world.
