According to sweeranfeels13 on Tumblr what Ed said was:

During the MTV after show Ed told MTV that as far as he knew Taylor had not worked with anyone (meaning duet, feature, etc.) on her new album.

EDIT: not meaning she didn’t co-write with anyone, just that it’s just her singing on the tracks.

Yes thats kinda what he said but he also said she wanted to focus on touring while touring, kinda like made a negative gesture about writing/recording while she was touring "Red"

I think shes done some stuff but the album isn't set in stone. She has work to do still on it.

He must be scared of the fanbase overlap. Ariana being this new fresh star on the rise... Those teens are not that wealthy so they may be made to choose between the 2. Resulting in loss of sales and money. BMR is absolutely terrified of losing money. Case in point practically 0 discounts for Lord like ever.
