I think minimizing the time between the first single release and the album release could help her to reach 1M albums sold in the first week.
This is just my theory here but I feel like when a single is released too soon (more than 2 months before the release of the albums) non-fans forget about the album release date. I think it would be a good idea to release the first single for the VMA (end of August) and then release the album in October.
