It truly is. For all the times Lana talks about her daddies and her boyfriends, to finally have a guy (her boyfriend!) sing along with her is genius. Very artistic and feminist of Lana

dd I know but I was referring to that signature sound she did with Emile Haynie and Jeff Bhasker. I know she's still working with Rick and Dan Heath as well, but Ultraviolence is a big departure from what they all started off with. It's risky and there are so many people out there that aren't following it this time around.

I don't even know what kind of videos she's been serving up lately, including Tropicana Maybe that is where her downfall will be this era, the lack of polished Woodkid and Anthony Mandler visuals, which were instrumental in her initial success I'm sure.
I'm still disappointed with the Ultraviolence cover. I feel like absolutely any other shot from that shoot or any of the Fader pictures would have done a better job.

IMO, the problem is that we're not seeing the depth there with her videos like we used to. They're certainly still visually-attractive, but they don't have that extra oomph that they had starting with Tropico (and arguably Y&B).
Maleficent is a bad movie with good visuals (kinda like poor Gargoyle's career)

I feel like she's injected these videos with all of these metaphysical themes which most of us cannot follow. Her pretty narrative told through her videos and pictures was such a winning formula.
