Not when whole UV chorus is "This is ultraviolence".
Not production being fantastic when on some songs you can barely hear what she's saying.
Not the sound being cinematic with only some weak guitars strumming with no melody.
And it will NOT slay BTD in any possible way, stop
With his Ultraviolence
Ultraviolence
Ultraviolence
Ultraviolence
I can hear sirens, sirens
He hit me and it felt like a kiss
I can hear violins, violins
Give me all of that Ultraviolence
The chorus is no more repetitive than other Lana songs. The production is fine and I can here what she's singing. Stop.

That's an opinion but for most of us the sound has clearly matured and and the production is obviously better without the cheap drums and instrumentals. Ultraviolence is clearly the better album.

OMG !!! This song is amazing top 5 of all Lana songs.

Just because this isn't the sound you wanted from her (which you are a fool to believe she wasn't eventually going to turn to this type of music) doesn't mean it's bad, on the other hand, the fact that you're so caught up in hating it is a testament to how ignorant you are. And the hyperbole isn't appreciated considering you are very selectively picking one tiny part of a song with more meaning than most of what is on Born To Die. Born To Die was an amazing album, but if you can't see she has matured lyrically and in her song-writing then you just need to exit and stop bashing.
This album is disappointing me so far. Radio mix of West Coast was great, the original of West Coast was good, but Shades of Cool and Ultraviolence are snores IMO. I'll give the whole album a listen when it comes out in full but I'm kinda upset at this record.
As much as I love Born To Die, I still feel this album is a huge step forward. Born To Die itself sounded like an album that was turned slightly more commercial than it should have been given the demos we had before and how drastically different the final versions were. On top of that many of the songs had such repetitive lyrics. It's a great album but the song-structures she is delivering now are so much more complex and dynamic and am I the only one that absolutely adores the vocals??? They sound so breathy and emotional and cinematic. I don't understand why people get so worked up over the lack of hip hop influence and dismiss rock music like??? THIS IS A MASTERPIECE, EVERYTHING SHE DOES IS AMAZING BUT I AM SIMPLY BLOWN AWAY THIS TIME. Idk the critics seem to love it, I guess it should have been expected of the hip hop stans that need to be punched by a chorus in the face 4 times in a 3 minute time limit.

Of course I didn't expect her to turn into this wannabe rock chick. Judging from Y&B, Once Upon A Dream, and BB I expected such sound. And you mention lyrics, yes they are great on UV, maybe better than BTD, but everything fails into water when she delivers them with cheap productions, cheap arrangements and weak, non-memorable melodies.

Weren't people expecting a stripped back album though?
How can people already hate this album when we haven't even heard the choruses of 75% of the album.... And the epic 7 minute Cruel World (we've only heard 20 seconds of it), Money Power Glory I'm sure breaks into a hip hop beat after it's intro... It was quoted as being radio friendly & hip hop influenced. Sad Girl & Pretty When You Cry sound like potential jazz jems, Old Money... Do I even need to say anything about this song??
I have a feeling people will DRASTICALY change their mind once they have heard UV in full plus we still have Flipside (the epic album closer) and Is This Happiness
And for people who wanna listen to Emile's production skills: how many seconds do you need to figure out who has produced Bruno's album?
Some people should just stop giving Emile the credit he does not deserve. His production was so overpowering on certain songs like "Dark Paradise", "Million Dollar Man", "Diet Mtn Dew", "Withou You", "Lolita" and "This Is What Makes US Girls"

Rock?
Lol. The sound is California folk/pop with a bit of jazz and strings thrown in.
If you're not a fan leave this thread. Shame you don't like it but she's number one on iTunes so obviously the issue is with you.

Yes ofc, I haven't given up on this album yet, can't wait to hear it in full and I PRAY TO GOD it changes my mind.

Million Dollar Man, Without You and Lolita's productions are flawless. I agree with Dark Paradise tho, but still million times better than Auerbach's cheap sounding productions.
so excited for this album! loved the snippets the only one i didn't like was pretty when you cry... cruel world, MPG FMYUTTT and old money sound incredible. florida kilos sounds different too. shocked it hasn't leaked yet though

YES! The demos of Dark Paradise sounded so much more fun and lively and Diet Mtn Dew was sexy smooth masterpiece as a demo too. I really Loved the demos of Lolita and Without You as well some of the production just felt so heavy-handed sometimes and given we had so many demos I was very confused when the final product was released.

Emile has basically killed almost most of the magic that the demos had and your ignorance towards rock music is unbearable, which you don't even hide.
Emile uses the same effects over & over.

If you ever listened to her speak of her influences and what she likes to do in her free time you would know how much she likes rock music. Also her earlier unreleased stuff pointed to this direction and some songs on Paradise also showed she was trying to break away slowly. I guess not everyone expected it, but this is truly where her heart is, so it's kind of rude to drag it so much.

Hate her new style as much as you want, but you obviously don't know how cheaply produced music sounds like...
