Windows don't make any money of laptops, just the OS. They barely make a cent in the grand scheme of things when it comes to Surface.

This free OS excuse can't be pulled into play when people had no hesitation upgrading to previous versions of Windows. People just don't want Windows 8. Microsoft is an Operating System company that's been extended to the consumer electronics market. Of course they'd sell Operating Systems. Especially the one that's been ruling that market share for the past 20 years. While the Surface isn't that much of a success, the fact that they still keep it going is a hint that it meets a certain demand.

Windows 7 is considered one of the best Windows OS, if not the best. And it all it was was a behind the scenes fix of Windows Vista. So most Mac OS's are behind the scenes. So why cristised that when Windows only see success when they do that?

Yes and no. Windows Vista is STILL the pits for computers running on old hardware but it works fine on PCs with greater hardware. That was the fault of Microsoft, they once thought that making the OS a spec heavy one will be moving forward apparently it wasn't. It's not **** by any means, it's just counter productive. Yes it's not an improvement looks-wise but it will be a solid update to their hybrid OS. People do not want change. That's it. Windows 8 is a perfectly fine OS and again, a RAM efficient version of Windows 7. I mean Windows 7 had better efficiency than XP and Vista but 8 is much more than what 7 was. and Again, PEOPLE WANT FREE THINGS. If the update for Windows 8 is FREE they'd get it.

Windows XP and Windows 95. 98 and now Windows 8. People love to complain anything about Microsoft.

They complained about adding the Start Menu before, they are now complaining about the lack of it. If you look at Microsoft's history, you'd see where I'm going with this.

Let's not start with the underground praise for the Zune.

At the end of the day, Microsoft has no idea where they are going with Windows and they are still losing market share.

Apple know exactly what they are doing and are gaining it.

People with PC's are choosing to stay with Windows 7 or earlier. People with Mac's are choosing to stay with Mavericks (btw you need to upgrade to Snow Leopard to install Mavericks anyway, so if people who don't have Lion or Mountain Lion already have to pay to update anyway.

Plus not all Macs can run Mavericks anyway.

It's not known for removing virus' once they are on your system.

If people wanted free things why did they fork out Money for Windows 7. That doesn't make sense.
People aren't buying MacBook's and paying double the price just for a free OS.
People who upgrade to Windows 8 are still spending less than people who owned a Mac in the first place to upgrade to Mavericks.

At the end of the day, people aren't buying as many PC's and people are buying more Mac's. Either Microsoft stick to the same idea and live with it or come out with Windows 9.

They know what they're doing. Adoption is really slow. Many enterprises just updated their XP machines to Windows 7 because they didn't feel the need for it. Same with XP before, reactions were meh but overtime, they did upgrade their 98/ME OSes to XP and those negative reactions became positive.

Adoption rate in Windows is slow, this is not news. I'm not saying they'd go 8 eventually but now that the market is going to that direction, I can see a very viable future for Microsoft.

The Surface is so far the biggest tech innovation in the past 3 years. There was no need for it before but people are seeing the usability of a tablet-laptop hybrid now. This is the make or break of the PC industry.

They forked out money for Windows 7 because it's time to upgrade those XPs and adoption rate from XP to 7 has been gradually slow and until now it's still gaining like 8. 7 at a bit higher pace while XP loses ground.

Second, the whole OS is now redesigned with the third build.

And the the changes are on the screen I'm judging the OS based on what they said back in April. No start screen, instead the titles are on the start menu, and now Metro apps run in Windows, not full screen.

It's all there. I'm not judging anything. I'm telling you they redesigned Windows 8 back to a Windows 7 type look. It's just a mess.

And iPad sales aren't down. The iPad Air sold shitloads. It's just the Android market is finally getting competitive and now the iPad isn't outselling the competitors combined anymore.
The iPad Air is still the best selling tablet.
