i agree with you completely but tfios has a lot of things in it's corner
- incredible hype and a large fanbase pre-movie
- a great marketing team
- being a "deep" and "thoughful' romantic omcedy

- john green's ability to seem endearing and repel the consequences of his own ****ery
i read tfios my freshman year of high school, literally the day it came out. i cried multiple times throughout the book but i remember thinking it was only okay. john green is not the amazing novelist people like to make him out to be. the book itself is very overrated and i'm not surprised the movie is getting treated the same way.
