I'm a little surprised at the praise The Fault in our Stars is getting. The book was awful imo so I imagine the movie is as well. i agree with you completely but tfios has a lot of things in it's corner

- incredible hype and a large fanbase pre-movie
- a great marketing team
- being a "deep" and "thoughful' romantic omcedy

- john green's ability to seem endearing and repel the consequences of his own ****ery

i read tfios my freshman year of high school, literally the day it came out. i cried multiple times throughout the book but i remember thinking it was only okay. john green is not the amazing novelist people like to make him out to be. the book itself is very overrated and i'm not surprised the movie is getting treated the same way.

how does that matter if she went in the complete opposite direction for her first commercial single? no one gives a **** about her soundcloud snippets if she's not going to follow through with it. she needs to put her money where her mouth is and leave pop alone.
