The Fault in Our Stars has sold the most advance tickets of any romantic drama in Fandango's 14-year history, outpacing 2012's The Vow.

The 20th Century Fox release is also handily beating advance ticket sales for Tom Cruise's sci-fi epic Edge of Tomorrow. Both films open at the North American box office June 6. Edge of Tomorrow, from Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow, is selling more advance tickets than Cruise's last film, Oblivion, according to Fandango.

Pre-releasing tracking suggests that Fault -- costing just $12 million to make -- will open to $30 million-plus in North America, with some predicting a big upside, depending upon whether older women flock to the movie (younger females are showing the biggest interest, followed by younger males). Either way, the movie has a shot at winning the weekend, depending upon the strength of Maleficent in its second weekend.
