Oh god, I hope not. One of the best things about being a fan of an artist is the build up to a new release, the little teases of who they're working with, song titles coming out in random interviews, little snippets of reviews etc. Massively exciting. I'd despise it if Katy tweeted in a couple hours time "Oh, my new album is out now btws xx"
... Well, I'd be buzzing and would buy it and love it immediately, but after a few days I'd feel like I was robbed of the build up to an album release. -Especially- if it was a visual album like Beyonce, then you're robbed of an entire era since there will be nothing new released until her next album.
