I think ARTPOP has to go platinum EVENTUALLY. Even if it only sells about, say, 1k copies a week or so in U.S., that means it should still go platinum in 6 years or so.
Thing is, ARTPOP won't have a 1k average per week.
It's RIGHT NOW selling 1k/week. Give it 2 more months, and it'll drop to 100 copies per week.
