I think Mj's music and legacy still heavily outweighed his controversies even before he died.
Everyone knows an MJ song. Everyone knows the moonwalk. He was also universally known as the king of pop.
If anything that Ihop character is showing his ignorance, and this coming from me is saying a lot.
I am not denying that his songs were remembered vastly, nor am I denying that the new pop stars worshiped him and he was a big influence on them. But nobody would tell you they were an MJ fan because his controversies were so big that it was simply embarrassing to stan for him. He was simply a joke in the media and press at that time.
Me too. My cousins 5 year old son (please save the jokes) literally became obsessed with his music and videos and knew all the words of his singles by the end of the summer

all jokes aside...MJ really did appeal to ppl of all ages...kids and old ppl
I have a huge framed poster of him I ordered that summer hanging over my bed
Snow White & The Huntsman is what we'll use to judge Maleficent's success. They're both dark revisionist fairy tales centered on female villains and they're both in the same budget range.

I knew many MJ fans before his death myself included, the same can be said about any artist before their death and the same can be said about new artist such as Miley, Rihanna, and Gaga when they die.
Not when you have Tilikum in your avi. Who really needs those prayers?
The pills for obesity can at least take that away. Sorry it's not the same for Rihanna I give her 5 years tops with all the partying she does. Prayers being sent her way!

I don't know about this, because his fans were in FULL FORCE during those incidents and you couldn't say anything bad about him. They were way worse than FAME and the other Chris Brown fans during the Chris/Rihtard incident. He was a joke in the media and press, but still a very respected one by those who grew up on his music and rise to fame.
The lyrics, the black man, the church, the burning crosses. That's being a visionary? Nearly all of Madonna's peers have clocked her and her try hard antics but the GP is so delusional
