Selling albums is generally better. Selling no singles, however, comes with the expense of everyone but those 3M album buyers forgetting about you and not knowing your music.

Sell singles and you'll be much more present musically, everywhere.

Songs like Crazy in Love and Single Ladies are universally known and Beyonce's a crowd-pleaser for all ages. Plus, she managed set the world (not just fomos!) on fire with the release of Beyonce. Then you have Moo trying it with the bastardised iTunes-exclusive and it floundering. If that isn't a testament to Beyonce's star-power and the command she holds then I don't know what is.

But I do think it would be fair to say she's a bigger celebrity than she is an artist.

If the critics say BERNARD is a great album(so, the music is supposedly good)
If Bernard is a huge star and the biggest name in music(so, he can garner interest from the masses with ease)

Then why did the singles flop and the album fall off so quickly? If he supposedly has the name to command attention and delivered a great product, how could so few people (relative to these grandiose claims) buy the music.

Because they only care about Bernard as a person, as in they pay attention to what he does and what is going on. But they are not interested in the actual output, which is the music.

Musically irrelevant.

Basically he is now a reality star that occasionally does music.

Most acclaimed albums have no commercial success at all. Music that achieves chart success tends to be generic, tailor-made for radio, and achieve Metacritic scores of 61.

Music is not like movies, where acclaim correlates to box office success. It's an entirely different animal.

She sold a lot based on her name and on her celebrity status. Once people got over the hypé, they dropped her weak album.

Both the commercial and when she performed at the SUPERBOWL (both things she got because of how much of a star she is considering she had no era out to promote at the time) were way before she released her album and promoted NONE of the songs from it. Nor was there any preperation, commercials, ads, promo performances. It came out of nowhere. She literally posted "Suprise" on instagram and that was it. But that is all irrelevant the point is the album sold based off of her name and starpower alone.

No other girls are doing it. With no big hits. Ever.
