The whole song is an example of personification. It can easily be mistaken for a love song, but when you actually break it into pieces it looks exactly like she said... and ode to Hip Hop.

The way they evolved their sound from Love Deluxe to Lovers Rock to Soldier of Love. Poor R&B when they release their next masterpiece.
