Lady Gaga - "Venus"
The first time I heard this song, I thought it was about love and sex mixed with some nonsensical lyrics. Upon hearing the song a second time,
I misheard "Goddess of Love" as "Gotta sell love" and it made me change my whole view on it (I also misheard a lot more of lyrics but that's coming too).
Rocket number 9 take off to the planet
To the planet, Venus
Aphrodite lady, seashell bikini
Garden panty
Venus
My interpretation: she's ordering her ninth rocket to go to the planet Venus, so that she can sell her brand products to a larger public. Some of those products are an Aphrodite sculpture, a bikini made of seashells and panties especially designed to use in a garden.
Let's press "Talk" to a new dimension
In your bedroom, Venus
Aphrodite lady seashell bikini
Get with me
Venus
Gaga has brand new products to sell, including a cellphone that can make calls to new dimensions. She wants to sell it so she's also giving a potential customer the chance to test it out in his bedroom. Her other products (Aphrodite sculpture, bikini of seashells and garden panties) have apparently flopped, and she has to reference them again so more people remember them and buy them.
I can't help the way I'm feeling
Gotta sell love, please take me to your leader
I can't help I keep on dancin'
Gotta sell love! Gotta sell love!
She's feeling sad that all her products have flopped so she urges someone to take her to their leader, someone who she expects is richer and can buy more products. Gaga has run out of promotional strategies so she starts dancing for no reason, in hopes that it will help her make more money off her product line.
When you touch me I die
Just a little inside
I wonder if this could be love
This could be love
Cuz you're out of this world
Galaxy space and time
I wonder if this could be love
Venus
After being taken to her friend's leader, the leader falls in love with Gaga and asks her to leave her saleswoman profession. Gaga is 'so in love' with him that she almost wants to stop selling her products, however a part of her wants to keep her job.
Have an oyster, baby
It's Aphrod-isy
Act sleazy
Venus
Worship to the land
A girl from the planet (to the planet)
To the planet
The leader has not persuaded Gaga to leave her job and she keeps selling products. This time, she's selling them directly to the leader, offering him an Aphrodisiac oyster that makes people act sleazy. After realizing that 'dancing' wasn't enough of a promotional strategy, she starts telling the leader that she respects the planet Venus and recognizes the insignificant person she is (a girl [...] to the planet) as compared to Venus.
I was really dissapointed when I read the actual lyrics.
