ATRL is incapable of respectfully handling a discussion about race at it is. Wrapping one in Iggy flamebait wasn't going to improve the level of discourse any.

But I mean, from there we get into a discussion about whether it's ok for one group of people to use a word, but completely different for another group to use it. It's all about context. My nickname with all my friends at work (I work in a gym) is p**f because I'm gay. It's a nickname my best friend and I gave to myself, and then it just caught on. I don't care that straight people call me that because they're not using it in a derogatory manner, and in a way, it's my way of claiming that word back. My friends Nate and Phil also call me f****t, again, because I'm gay. It's all one massive joke that I started, and they all love it. A word only has as much power as you give it.
I agree though, her career would be over in a heartbeat, especially now that she's on the pop scene and the world's stage. I just think it's interesting topic because she's a rapper and hangs around with a lot of black rappers and black producers who would drop the N-word around her on a daily basis. This isn't Paula Dean or Mel Gibson we're talking about here. This is T.I's protege and someone who appeared on the Freshman cover of XXL.
And just like that, we've had a mature conversation around the issue. I just think it's a shame that so many topics can't be discussed on here because they're flame-bait. And even if they are flame-bait, who cares? The worst case scenario is you insult someone's favourite pop star, not their looks or their weight or their income or where they live. Their favourite pop star.
