I'm white, and in certain friend groups I've comfortably said it in front of and to black people - maybe that's just how young I am and the area I live in. It's just weird for me to see people take a word so seriously

imho either everyone says it, or no one says it. And there are quite a large of black people who don't seem to want to stop using it so I'm not going to be pissed at white people using it.
