The reason it didn't go to #1 is because Fancy and Problem already have a great lead over it lol. #4 is the highest any of her songs have ever gotten on iTunes and that should be a sign that this song is destined to do well.

This song is a GREAT choice to start an era with. She doesn't seem like she is going to dive back into the really hard dance stuff anymore and a hip-hop track doesn't have the capability to cross over as easily as this can.

I hope this does well, because I think nicki is really talented and I would love for female rappers to find success simultaneously but I'm pretty disappointed in this as a single. but not because I think the song is too mainstream or whatever. I just think that she doesn't pull off the vulnerable emotional songs well. Pills and potions has emotion but it's very broad and vague story and it doesn't seem like anything new that hasn't been said a million different times. Or even a fresh take on a done to death story. It seems very surface level to me with regard to emotion. Her fierce songs have way more personality even when she's just bragging because the way she does it feels at least somewhat personal/unique to her as an artist. This doesn't. It's accessible because it's vague, but it also sounds like A anyone could've made this song for that same reason.

If it took an era like Roman Reloaded to have critics appreciate Nicki's work then it was worth it. Seeing the pure acclaim Nicki is getting >>> seeing it sit pretty at #4 on iTunes.

Nicki's songs with Dr. Luke are always so meaningful and inspirational... Pills n Potions (finding the courage to admit that you love someone despite them making mistakes), Young Forever (accepting that someone you love is gone forever and all you have are the memories), Masquerade (realizing your potential), and Va Va Voom (there is nothing wrong with being a homewrecker). That's not true. Usually they say "generally positive reviews". There's a difference. And there are quite a lot of reviews already.
