To be honest, The Gaga during The Fame Monster and even the Fame was just making a name for herself. She had everything to prove and nothing to lose. Now she has to gain all of that back. Not to mention when you're at a place in your career where people are leaving you and the critics start snatching your skull when they used to praise you, it hurts. It's not an excuse for her to start paying attention to the critics/haters now, but I understand why it bothers her. She needs to use that fuel to kick ass, but with her music, not her twitter. I do believe she has an ear for hits, Applause, Aura's chorus, G.U.Y, DWUW, Dope, Venus (to some extent), Gypsy, and even Fashion!, to some extent have qualities that are all hit worthy, just not for this musical climate. She's ignoring what the radio wants and is doing what she wants. That's not really a good or a bad thing, it's just defiant.
ARTPOP had a lot going for it. On the bright side, there is a lot to be learned from this. I hope Gaga doesn't take all criticisms as negative (that's asking for too much from her
