I think its a part of the concept of the album. "1000 forms of fear" + the song lyrics. If you read Sias explanation on the song, its rather a bad-mood song. People might feel uncomfortable watching this performance, as Sia is singing the song to the wall, and I think it was the main intetion (not hiding her face cause she doesnt want to be famous or so).

Wow, that was an amazing performance, both her voice and the dancing. All the people who say she sounds "pitchy"

Sia can just about sing anyone under the table, and I can't imagine how difficult it would be to sing Chandelier live. She killed it and her voice was powerful, I actually enjoyed parts of the live vocal more than the studio version. She was adorable at the end too with her foot.

I don't think it's pre-recorded, I think they just edited her vocals before air. They've been doing that a lot on Ellen recently, like with Zendaya and Ariana's performances.
