just no. Just because they're living in different countries it's not the cruelest way to fall in love with someone. I can think of 20 much crueler ways, for example, someone you're in love with is dying and you know it
for her to even make a statement like that shows how poorly/ lazy written the song is.

this is a little much especially if you haven't even "fallen" for this person yet.
I cringe when I hear the collaborater of this song say it's one of his favorites. Hasn't he had much better songs than this?!
