I thought I'd check this out! Not a Nicki fan but this thread has been so active.
It's not bad, very different sound for her. I'm just not sure if it's got that instant hit factor, the song just seems very sleepy and doesn't really scream summer anthem to me. I think it will go either way, it could blow up because people are intrigued by this newer/mellow Nicki, or it could fall flat. Hard to say at the moment, what's the general response so far off her fans and music blogs?
This is not innovative for Nicki Minaj. It just sounds like a cross between "Your Love"
and "Fire Burns," with the latter being almost identical in tone, and the better overall record.

It's sounds nothing like Fire Burns. Doesn't even have the same BPM.
People please don't forget All of Me went #1. A honest song that doesn't sound any different that what John Legend has been doing his whole career. Clearly, slower tempo and more emotional songs can still smash even in hot weather.
The weather doesn't have much to do with what songs are smashing.
