Partition was a guaranteed hit tho, as was XO, as was whatever happened to Blow.
She somehow managed to exhaust literally all of the big hits from the album with absolutely minimal yield. Only Flawless and Mine are left I'd say. Mine is the best on the album but I couldn't even see that catching on

Bernard is musically irrelevant. It's just the truth.
The era was frontloaded. I remember all that hype:
- all that Pepsi deal **** (which resulted in ****ing Grown Woman promo). Wasn't it supposed to promote her actual lead single? This makes me think that Grown Woman was actually originally intended to be the lead with a traditional album release, but response was tepid and Bernard got scared of flopping.
- all the media storm that was created by the surprise release, which my original theory (too lazy to get the posts) is true. Bernard was scared of flopping and waited until all the other major pop girls released to play his cards last because he could not compete head-to-head with the other girls.
With the lack of banjerz on that album, he would have done worse than 4 had it not been for the gimmick (yes, it is a TOTAL gimmick) that helped him sell so much. People literally bought the album just because of word-of-mouth and people talking about it.
Once they got it and played it a few times, they were over it.
His music hasn't resonated with anyone in quite some time, and I don't mean black gays and Wal-Mart cashiers with names 99% of society can't pronounce.
Live Nations Touring Artist, Bruce Springsteen has released 71 singles in his career, only 5 (the same amount you can count on one hand) have gone #1 in major markets.
Perhaps it died so it could let Jhene's, Tinashe's and Sevyn's upcoming albums live.
