This. Not here for people assuming those who support "straight pride" are homophobic. If you support "gay pride", are you against heterosexual couples? No? Then why must they be if they're proud of being straight? "Straight pride" isn't the product of having to be proud of something that's belittled or looked down upon in society, no, but it is the product of "gay pride" awareness being increased and people wanting to be a part of a similar movement... if anything, it's encouraging equality, not condemning it. Anyone can be proud of their sexuality, not just gays. There's no reason why straight people can't be proud of having the sexuality that's considered the social norm, just like there's no reason why gays can't be proud of having the opposite.
As I've already said though, just because you can doesn't mean you should. I'm not a fan of either pride parade. It just draws unnecessary attention to another standard issue in our world and can only make those who are against it more upset for being "in your face" about it.

Why do majorities have to make everything about them?

Well the nice thing about being human is that neither he, nor you, nor anybody, have the right to tell me how I SHOULD feel. I would think LGBTQ people would appreciate that as well.

From the very beginning I said it was ****ing dumb, but I was trying to be logical and say WHY people make things like this, and I get "YOURE SAYING TUMBLR BULLYING IS WORSE THAN MURDER." What kinda unnecessary escalation?

but why are you acting like these kind of straights don't deserve to be harassed about what needs to be said?

Actually I'm not literally telling you how you should feel... I'm not demanding you do anything, damn. I'm just saying what I see to be the problem.

Eh... There's no skin off my nose, but I just don't see why everything has to be a conflict. If it's a homophobic movement, so what? They're on the losing side of history anyway.
Live and let live.

I said I personally don't give two ***** because there's more important gay rights issues to deal with, but if you wanna do it then go right ahead, I'm not your mother. I'm just saying that, like in every post, this is why these things are made. We can sometimes present things in an aggressive and very angry matter. None of you have acknowledged this fact despite me explaining it in every post. smh

It could be worse. At least it's not like those stories we hear about student organizations on campus who make "White Pride Clubs"...I wonder if there are any "Straight Student Alliances"...

No, it isn't. Neither are exclusive.
This isn't someone fighting for something, like the people who argue that there should be White Entertainment Television. This isn't someone trying to knock down LGBTQ people. If you see it that way, you're looking at it with a very selfish perspective imo. "How does it relate to me?"
|
If the world was completely equal then your argument would make sense. But it isn't. Straight people are the majority. "Straight Pride" is only being spoken about as a direct response to gay pride. To me, its almost trivializing what the true meaning of gay pride is to a lot of out and proud gay people. Its more than being proud of who you are. Its about being proud and open enough to display it to the public while being prepared to face whatever persecution you may face for it.
The fact that straight people only want to celebrate their pride because gays do it and they want one of the few things that we have for solely us minorities have is just sickening and truly selfish to me.

ugh.
Gay pride was created to inspire pride in the community who were being shamed to feel bad about themselves. That was the purpose. You can have straight pride, but they are literally two different things that are similar in name only.

Lol literally more than 99% of magazines, TV shows, parades (on the topic of "pride"), children's books, animated films, films of any genre in any language from any country of origin, advertisements and couples walking around in the street are straight. The whole world is straight pride every day every year always. The ONLY reason you'd post something like "straight pride" is because you're a homophobic piece of **** and want to rub homophobia in the face of gay people. "Gay Pride" did not come out of gay people just being bored and wanting to draw attention to themselves, the origins of gay pride are activist marches demanding an end to police brutality and legally enforced discrimination as well as widespread homophobia in society. Whoever made this has the right to make whatever page they want, of course, but we have the right to call them out on their ******** and call it what it is: unadulterated homophobia.

ok I admit I can be aggressive about all of this. It's because I'm personally invested in this... emotionally and mentally. Hell, one day physically too I'm sure.
This is a part of important gay rights issues, though. Until heterosexual people see the problem with this, we will not make any progress.

I'm glad you acknowledge that, but that's why I don't contribute to things that delicate in aggression. Of course some people are so ignorant you just come at them. But the social media posts that say negative things about straight people, are going to get them upset, and then these posts happen. I think its dumb, but I dont think its contributing negatively to the LGBT community
