She hasn't outlasted her. As you can see - Birthday is massively underperforming while her fans bragged that it would smash hard and anything uptempo by her would be a hit. Clearly they were wrong. Katy isn't immune to underperforming. The only thing that happened this era is the public connected with Katy's material moreso than Gaga's. Gaga is still a huge celebrity and a pop icon! She still sold a decent amount of records this era and is on a successful wouldwide tour. All she needs to do is release material that clicks with the public more than ARTPOP did. Every artist has ups and downs throughout their career...Katy isn't going to be "on top" forever. and if Birthday's performance is any indication - her time may be coming as well to underperform.
TBH I don't think it will be easy for Katy to spawn another successful era releasing the same bubble-gum kind of songs. She is getting older and her songs aren't maturing with her.
