Pretty sure they did that because they wanted to release at a quieter time (which ended up working in her favor). She still wasn't that big of a name to compete during such a busy time.

Whenever she releases, she will be the biggest release so they don't have to worry about a quieter release period this time around.

I've talked to him before (as has Ichi) and he's mostly just joking around for the most part.

Really? I always thought he did pretty well on it, but I think his voice is great and that was one of his weaker performances. Plus, he obviously sounds like trash compared to Adele. But I still thought he did okay. It was obvious that he struggled to hit some of those notes, though.
