That's actually not true
As far as I remember the only time people hyped Spain's song was in 2012 with Pastora Soler and she ended up getting a low Top 10 because of the public vote because she performed after Loreen (still Top 5 on jury vote).
As for other years, there had been no hype at all.
I already knew last year would be a disaster with ESDM, same with Lucia Perez in 2011.
This time is different tho, people actually like the song and the staging is so damn good.
