There's a difference between looking serious and looking lifeless, though. Mostly energy.
Bey and Gagz (well maybe not in recent months) don't look worn down/disinterested when they are serving serious and convey intensity/focus instead.
Kristen Stewart is called awkward because she looks uncomfortable in her own skin when at public events, and Britney is called lifeless because often she looks like she checked out awhile ago and would rather not do stuff.
