I feel like this era would've been so different if she had chosen DWUW or ARTPOP as the lead single. Both songs are so different from what she has done in the past, so I feel like the GP would've reacted very differently to her 'comeback'. Also if she would've released ARTPOP as a single, maybe the GP would understand more what this album is all about.

I agree 100% with this. The movement from giant projection Gaga to Gaga behind that screen was absolutely incredible.
