Never too late to start appreciating the classics! If I'm being honest, I had never seen an Audrey movie until Grade 9. It was in French class, we had to do presentations on our idols, someone did Audrey and showed Breakfast at Tiffany's afterwards. (of course, we had to have the French subtitles on) I always had a thing for vintage music and enjoyed the idea of those times, but never bothered watching movies from that era before. Anyway, I was instantly captured by it found myself slowly following in love with her throughout the movie. There was just so much class and elegance to her, she was so graceful and owned the screen with such ease. She was an incredible actress, and unbelievably beautiful. She was quite good at channeling different characters as well.
You should watch My Fair Lady next! It's probably my favourite Audrey movie. Funny Face is good too.

I actually discovered her work myself through my interest in Judy Garland; I'd learned she'd been replaced by Ginger Rogers, who in turn I'd learned was ranked highly on AFI's list of the best actors and actresses, which I saw was topped by Katharine Hepburn whose acting in The Lion in Winter I loved. So I read the list a little, was intrigued by the funny coincidence of two unrelated Hepburns in the top three of the list, and I decided to watch Breakfast at Tiffany's!
I really agree that she's an incredible actress - the way she portrayed Holly, for instance, was spot- on; you don't think of her as "Audrey Hepburn portraying this character," but rather as the characters themselves, and that's the mark of a good actress. She's very pretty and her personality is absolutely charming throughout the work I've seen with her as well as many of the out-of-character things I've read about her. And I do agree that she owned the screen - when you see her, you know it's about her. You know she's the center of attention.
I'll note both - Kitt also suggested Funny Face in HQ so I'll be sure to fit both in tonight if I don't work, or tomorrow if I do work!
