I think Red is artistically underrated because people don't like to give credit to Taylor where credit is due. The album is risky for Taylor - much more alternative & pop music than most country artists would dare do. Even WANEGBT, IKYWT & 22, in all their pop formulaic structure & Max Martin production qualities, could've lost her a lot of fans. But I think she only gained more. I'm not a fan of pure pop on Red, except for the great IKYWT, but I did love the genre-bending on the rest of the songs.
And lyrically it's amazing, and a huge jump up artistically. Can't wait for her to slay! in August/October.
