She hasn't had a big worldwide hit this era yet. Rihanna has always had a hit single when her album is around it's 18th week. Beyoncé doesn't have that.

However in the countries she HAS had a hit single, the album is selling well in. US & UK sales are phenomenal

At the release of 21, Adele debuted with 360K, which is still impressive with a one-hit wonder to the rest of the world.

Beyoncé and (Rihanna are superstars with a name everyone knows. Their first week sales DEFINITELY mean something.

As for MJ, IDEK what happened with that. That was over 30 years ago. Mariah's Music Box & Daydream by Mariah did sh*tty first week, but then exploded. It was a different time.

Overall sales matter more than first week sales. Even with Beyonce, her current album and Bday had the biggest first week sales of her career even though DIL and IASF are her highest selling albums
