It's actually kind of catchy to me, I guess it's a matter of personal preference, but it's easy to sing along to imo.

It's a cool song with great production, but first singles usually showcase the best or second best song on the album. If West Coast was selected as the first single for that reason, I'm a bit worried that Ultraviolence will lack the quality of Born To Die. Crossing my fingers though!

I was expecting something more cinematic like Y&B but I will use. I like how she has new sound now. I expected Katy to do the same when she said Prism will be darker but she stayed with the same sound for a 3rd album in a row. And this is Lana's 2nd so this is promising.

I really think that people that English is not their first language won't relate to it that easy as with her previous singles tho

Well, hooks are an integral part of creating a good song. Without one, there is no desire for the listener to relisten You're so right. If you like a song, it's because you're hooked on it, hence where the word hook came from - the one part of the song that makes people hooked whether its a backbeat, a lyric, etc.

I'm not that pissed. This is a forum where you have discussions. Not every disagreeable response means that I'm sitting here all bent out of shape.

You can pretend that you don't have anything against catchy songs but you've proven it here more than once. You just called Y&B a "pedestrian song." If that doesn't insinuate that you think catchy songs are for the lowest common denominator and that you are above them, then I don't really know what does.

I can agree with your point that it is sometimes a risky move to not release a more generic or catchy song as the lead single but I don't think a song should be hyped up simply because it's not as catchy as others.

No. You are speaking just about pop songs which are made catchy to hook people. Have you ever heard Leonard Cohen ? His beautiful music is not catchy at all but it has other amazing qualities unlike pop songs.
