They got him to do a remix for the typical remix EP that artists release. This one just picked up, so Interscope decided to send it to radio. She has no say over that. Especially as a new artist...

she may be the songwriter, but it's up to her label at the end of the day.


as a general aside, i think atrl underestimates the power a label has. it's not like lana walks into interscope and says "i've decided that west cost will be the first single"

I still remember when in 1996 Tori Amos has a huge hit with Professional Widow, remixed by Armand van Helden. She said once in an interview, that it is really unimportant if she agrees or not, the label has paid for the remix, they will release it, no matter how.

And Tori is one of the least artists you would accuse to do something just for the success.

100% wrong wrong wrong. Lana's manager and Jimmy Iovine literally poached him to do the remix and even gave the rights to the song to another record label, so he could do the remix.
