Yup me right now lmao. I only properly got into it in like November, so I'm still trying to listen to everything. I wouldn't say the English songs are lacklustre, they just aren't as interesting as Korean songs right now. It's weird. I've pulled myself out a few times though, I just actually have to want to.

2010, but still. Actually After School's "Because Of You" was PLEDIS last #1 as well.

But that was... like 2009 still!
I mean... they should really have another #1 song by now.

And I wish I would be here more often. Let me tell y'all a bit about my K-Pop preferences.
My favorite groups are EXO & 2NE1. I also like After School.
I used to play so many back in the days like SHINee, 4minute, 2pm.. I even neglected English songs. (around 2010)
But I am not feeling their music lately. And ever since I got my latest laptop I only kept the ones I was using, which are:
Hope y'all are accepting me.

You better get back into them.

Since we are (or we were ) on the topic of when we got into K-pop, I thought I'd introduce myself as I've not been very active in this thread.
I'd be oblivious to K-pop if it wasn't for ATRL, in actual fact in was Romi and then Rapha who introduced me to the K-pop scene through their countdown in the "Top Ten" section of the forums. Firstly, warriorsoul got me into the likes of Ayumi and Kuu from the J-pop scene, shortly after I came across Super Junior's song "It's You" which I firstly believed to be J-pop. If I remember correctly, I then saw them on Romi's countdown and eventually began to listen to more variety of K-pop. Romi's countdown eventually got me introduced to SHINee, MBLAQ, BIG BANG and Brown Eyed Girls, from there I self explored the K-pop scene and eventually found some of my own favorites. Throughout 2009 till now, Romi's and Rapha's countdown helped me find other K-pop artist's, so I am so grateful for that.
I know to many of you I'm unknown, but to give you a bigger picture of my music tastes in K-pop. Here are some of my favorite artist's.
Hoping to be more active in here from now, as I've not really got any friends in the UK who like K-pop

Orange Caramel reveal they get paid every 6 months + talk about promoting separately from After School
Quote:
Orange Caramel revealed their earnings on Mnet's 'Beatles Code 3D.'
MC Jang Dong Min asked the girls, "How do you live when you get paid every 6 months?" Raina replied, "That's why we live like beggars. We live like we're well off for two months and then live a bit difficultly for the remaining four," making everybody laugh.
She was then asked about the first payment they received and Raina explained, "I got about 7 million won (~ $6,700 USD). [Nana and Lizzy] got about 10 million won (~ $9,500 USD). As we're in both Orange Caramel and After School, we get separate payments. And the individual takes [the profits] from her individual activities."
In relation to working apart from After School, the Orange Caramel members said, "It's a bit more comfortable going around separately from the unnies."
Nana explained, "We are close with and comfortable around the unnies, but seeing as how there is an age difference, we're always cautious around them." Raina said, "I like Orange Caramel promotions better. The reason is because of favorable comments calling us cute and pretty. When promoting as After School, there are 8 members so we get buried.

While that is about their FIRST ever payment as members of either group, it's still a mess. All mess aside, this is the perfect time for me to air how I've been feeling about AS/OC for a while now. The members from OC really need to graduate and become their own group now. After School NEED to let it's current/newer members flourish, but it can't with the more well known/OC members hogging every single line, every single comeback. I don't think it's fair that these three get so much success with OC and then receive a lot of the attention within AS's promotions too. I'm not saying I want Nana gone (Raina on the other hand...) from AS, but at this stage I think of it like this, she would get more shine as a three group member anyway, so what is the harm? It's all income to PLEDIS, so...? AS became popular as nugus and built up their images. The same can be done again with new blood, but only if PLEDIS genuinely uses them for more than seat warmers.
What will PLEDIS do when the time for UEE, Nana, JungAh and Jooyeon to graduate comes? Fill their spaces with more E-Young's and Kauen's, to ignore and not develop? Because what I get from their additions is that the future of AS is a group of talented, but underappreciated members. One that won't last much longer past the aforementioned departures. Truly a shame... They (like most PLEDIS artists) were really great at the start, but are beginning to spiral. It comes down to them being badly handled, which seems to be a running theme with that company. NU'EST and Son Dambi are also victims of a similar fate. It seems that PLEDIS can't hold onto their artists interest/appeal at all. AS's concept seemed like a cool idea to begin with, but when people like Kahi and Bekah started to graduate and the reality sank in, it wasn't a smart move at all. Especially when E-Young and Kauen aren't taken advantage of. I don't see how AS would be any different today, if it didn't have the graduation system and Bekah/Kahi had left with no replacements.
AS right now could just consist of Jungah, Jooyeon, Uee, Raina, Nana & Lizzy and it would be no different/maybe even better. That is a problem.
