LMAO Taylor is a MUCH better singer than her and don't even try it with songwriting.
Name one song she's written that's as good as Dear John, Ronan or All Too Well.
Taylor sounds like a dying animal in her upper register. And in her normal register she's practically benadryl in human form. Her listless melodies don't help, either.
Literally every song Carly's written is better than those. Taylor's attempts to be adult and serious sound like they could've come out of the most vapid teenager's diary. Carly's lyrics can be a bit diary-esque at times, too, but at least she has enough ebullience to make it seem interesting.
When your safe faves are brave enough to play a promiscuous girl (25+ partners between age 13-20, she tells us) who we see having unprotected sex with her bf (and we see him *** inside of her and her trying to wipe herself clean -- NO details are spared!), a girl who dumps said bf and shacks up with Ryan Godling (who finds out she's now pregnant by the bf who came inside her and still agrees to marry her), a girl who then ends up breaking Godling's heart and dumping him even though he happily married her promiscuous jizzed-in pregnant self and raised the baby who's not his, then we'll talk!
