Well, we now see a change in that landscape but most people who really got famous for acting on TV could never truly wash that image or role away. Not even Anuston with 100000 movies could do it and Bryan Cranston won't either.
But I do agree they can showcase a much stronger performance and true, genuine character development.
Like when Claire Danes won the Globe, Emmy & SAG 3(!) times in a row
