Katy is generic. Katy is vanilla. Katy is a by-the-books popstar who does exactly as she is told and as she should. If you want to stan for that, that's perfectly fine. She's pretty, successful, fun. But if you're going to try so hard to make her out to be this talented artist and songwriter, maybe something about her bothers you and you should consider stanning for someone else?
I think her stans have a bit of an issue with the whole kiddo thing. They're either 12 y/o girls and okay with Katy her childish ways, or they are kind of adults who are looking for some kind of artistic depth in what she does in order to justify their continued stanning.
How would it not have made a good first single?
I guess that HNC->IKAG would not have worked but HNC feels more true to who she was an "artist" back then and it would have set her up to release more songs that fit her "artistic vision".
