Well we can't do anything to change the callout scores. Requesting can't hurt. What goes into callout scores? Like what's taken into consideration to create the score.

Yep. There's always hope! I had never seen a song test like that. Though I loved Applause from first listen. The lyric video sold me.

The only other thing we can do to create a positive radio influence is that radio survey thing when it hits top 40 on radio.

The radio stations employ research survey companies to test their key demographics and see how well certain songs test. If they test well, then power rotation here we come. (Ie. Royals) If not, it's like a bad dream that never happened. (Ie. CRTFY)

Basically even with data, program managers still ultimately decide what gets played. And if it's a first single or a song like Team (album is selling well), they'll still play a song a lot. In a way that's what happened with Applause.

Ah, I see. Very interested. I've always wondered how that works. So really there's nothing we can do online to help that, sadly. The only think we can do is RatetheMusic but it sounds like that isn't a factor in that score at all? I know radio stations do look at that site as well though. My local radio station always tweets for the listeners to take the survey.

I think Applause benefited from album being released a few months after the single. Radio supports Gaga and wasn't gonna stop playing it with the album coming out. So they stuck it out.

And guess what? Callout scores improved around October and it went into PR. Radio also supported DWUW and brought it to #7 despite poor callout scores.

So shocking to me how well DWUW did on the radio but didn't translate to sales at all. I don't even think it really did in streaming either.
