Perhaps I don't listen to R&B a lot since it's not really my kind of music, but i'm aware of the genre, its artists, etc because I love music in general. That's doesn't happen much the other way around.
I've actually been in the US four times.
Stop talking about black people like you deal with them on the daily basis. There are many Black people who are very aware of artists outside of their audience.

I used to really love Beyonce but she after Blue was born and people held her on a pedestal I just couldn't take it. A lot of things became clear to me around the time of the inauguration/super bowl. She's a great performer and person but people give her a lot of undeserved praise. I still don't understand how "4" got such good reviews. Like
