She was going to have 9 singles from BTW before the era ended early.
Heavy Metal Lover was confirmed by NRJ when they got the go ahead from Interscope (Universal I think was the French label).
A few weeks later the single was put up for pre-order with no cover art (the cover art was a customer image). Amazon don't have permission to put a single up for pre-order, so it had to have been Interscope.
Amazon are only allowed to list the the song separately, like they did before Beautiful, Dirty, Rich was cancelled as second single:

It can't be available to purchase. But Heavy Metal Lover was.
She also performed Heavy Metal Lover on NYE in Times Square along with Marry The Night & Born This Way.
And finally she said at iHeartRadio that 'Since we are not playing it live yet , we'll just leave you with a dance party" hinting it was going to be a single (this was before the tour was planned).
I think it all adds up, especially since she was planning 4 more singles.
