Just Imagine the digital age 15 years in with all the replacements filling in for Katy, Ke$ha, Nicki, Gaga, etc- Careers have been cut short.
Rihanna was smart to release more albums/singles than anybody else in the game, otherwise she'd be on par with Katy if she were to release at the same rate, except she has acclaim.

I hear you, man, but you're leaving out the most crucial element of all --
green. The money is the driving force. Single sales = fast money. Music corporations love, and I mean LOVE that quick cash-out single smash. And because of that, artists like Ke$ha and Katy Perry are not easily replaceable, as you stated -- that's why we haven't had a new major
steady pop girl since Ke$ha. All we've had since Ke$ha are one-hit wonders and fads like Carly Rae Jepsen, or LMFAO, or Lorde or even Miley Cyrus (record labels LOVE huge fads like Lorde and Miley Cyrus, by the way. The quick cash is multiplied by 30).
