"Good" vocalists are so overrated to me. Like almost irrelevant kind of overrated. If you combine all the discographies of all the great vocalists commonly cited here, like 85% of what you're left with is boring and mediocre. You can go into your average theater program or watch any of these billion talent shows and see people with technically great vocals, but they're not successful because good vocals don't make great music.

At the end of the day, I'd prefer unique, striking vocals over raw vocal ability any day: Elvis, Nancy Sinatra, Lana Del Rey, Adele, Johnny Cash, Joanna Newsom, Bob Dylan, Thom Yorke, Fiona Apple, Rihanna.

This must be why Kworb and I are fundamentally divided on music.

Her live performances get TRASHED and she barely scrapes a 60 score on metacritic. How you gon be talking about respect? No one takes her seriously, people just like her songs. Also beyonce is kind as well, she's given millions to charities.
Not to mention beyonce has twice as much money solo as her, plus she has access to jay's income as well.
