Celebrities coming out only help with "gay normalization" if said celebrity is "normal," by societal standards. Ellen (Page and DeGeneres) come off "normal." Anderson Cooper comes off "normal." Neil Patrick Harris comes off "normal." But for every normal "Ellen," there's a tatted-up Margaret Cho or a loud Rosie O'Donnell. For every normal "Cooper," there's an over-the-top Adam Lambert or a bitter and bitchy Elton John. The GP loves Johnny Weir, though, so there's always an exception.
