In general I'm pretty sure gayness among artists was a lot more accepted in the 80s/early 90s. You had RuPaul being relevant in the mainstream, Queen cross-dressing, George Michael being a flamboyant mess, Elton, Prince's everything really....now? 90% of male artists are either Usher 2.0 or "guy in a suit against a big band with minimal choreo". It's tragic.
