That was absolutely brilliant of her to do.
You can see from her remarks that Youtube covered any video production costs that day .....and it was something that every fan with an internet connection had access to.
....and then. think about just how rare, in an age of leaks, that ALL of her fans could get to experience the first single at the same time. Before that day, only some label people had known it.
The moment where she first sarcastically introduces the song....no one knows what to expect....

suppose that if MTV or VH1 wanted to carry her announcement live instead, they could have, but MTV and VH1 are irrelevant to real fans now. Youtube is very relevant.
