It's really more an issue of equality. Non married gay couples do not get the same rights as married couples do.

And the biblical idea of marriage is so completely different than the so called "traditional" idea of marriage that I don't see why our ideas of marriage can't shift as well. I mean the biblical idea of marriage forces you to marry the man that raped you. That concept of marriage was changed. Would it really be that difficult to change the concept of marriage from two consenting adults of the opposite sex, to two consenting adults?

No, it's a legal issue that is separated from the Church since ya know, this isn't 16th century England where the Church and the Government are the same thing. So agitating that all of these ignorant people are using their religion to justify this when not everyone is Christian in America or Minnesota. They can all have several seats in the local church that I'm sure they never attend.

Gay people will have sex regardless of if they can marry. Marriage today is more about federal and state rights, tax advantages, among other things. What does god have to do with that?

It does say homosexuality is wrong in the bible, but it's not like everyone doesn't sin. Most Christians have never read the bible and just go with what they've been told. Most are pick and choose and only pick which sins they want to not practice, so they have no room to judge like this. What these people don't understand most is not everyone practices the same religion as them and it's time for people to be accepting of other lifestyles and life paths.
