Well, a male walking into a woman's bathroom is more likely to be noticed by someone outside and stopped/questioned.
It's not about making it impossible, but more difficult. Clearly a sign is not going to be some invisible force field, but it does make it clear who is supposed to be where.

And to solve for those with handicap issues who need assistance or those with some "sexual identity crisis"...there's such a thing as a Family Restroom where it's a single large bathroom.

Hell no, I don't need all the dirty tampns/pads lying around in the public restrooms. Have you seen how dirty girls restrooms get?! It's disgusting! Not to mention that I'm sure none of my fellow males want to be waiting in line for ages.
